General

I am Marieke Nieuwenhof and I am living together with my partner Dennis Berends in the east of Holland. I am working as a social worker in the psychiatrics and my biggest hobby is our dogs and everything about it.

I am the owner of the kennelname Dalmindy`s, but my mother and sister are also infected with the 'spotted dicease', so that`s why we do a lot together with the dogs. Like babysitting eachothers dogs, going for walks, helping with the puppy`s, teaching, and ofcourse going to dogshows, where you will meet most of the time the three of us!

More then 13 Years ago I made acquaintance with the breed. At my parents house we got a Dalmatian bitch, Kaya. Since then I am totally in love with the breed! Why a Dalmatian? Because I like big, active dogs wich you can take with you for a long walk, swim or biking! A Dalmatian is most suitable for that….they like it and they really need it!

They are special because of their unique looks, and they are very intelligent, social, happy and humoristic dogs. But they are also a little bit self-willed. All these qualities are looking very much like mine, so that’s the reason why I have chosen for a Dalmatian.

Would you also like to have a Dalmatian? Please think first if the breed matches your qualities and family situation.

10 Years ago I went living together with my partner and Kaya stayed at my parents house, because we hadn’t  much space in our first house. Six years ago we moved to a bigger house and then there were possibilities again to take a dog. Then Indy came into our life! A few times a week we go to my parents or sister with the dogs to play, walk, swim, etc. or we take them to somewhere were they can run and play. In `07 Oleg has joined our family and later also 2 other dogs. In the future there will follow more ofcourse, but you`ll never find at our homes too many dogs, as i think that you can`t give them the attention then what they need.

I have done a canine knowledge study (KK1) from the Dutch Kennelclub and passed the exam with an average of an 8!
